Custom Foot Orthotics are orthopaedic appliances that fit inside a shoe and are used to alleviate pain, redistribute pressures, support and improve function of the foot and lower limb.
In designing your custom orthotics, your Pedorthist will:
choose materials based on your condition, foot function (biomechanics), and demands of your job and activities
consider your footwear choices which could include casual, dress, work, or athletic shoes, as well as safety, hiking, or ski boots, and even skates or high heels if necessary (although not recommended!)
often design custom orthotics to be moved from one shoe to another, if shoes are not dramatically different in fit.
